Rehearsal Dinner Invites....

This was a last minute add to my "to-do" list.  It's a rehearsal dinner invite and also our card to let our bridal party know they need to be to the Church on time!!   The green border is the envelope detail.  I think the envelope adds the finishing touch to everything I design!

My Wedding Extras!

Its 2.5 weeks until my wedding.  Wow, how the year has flown by.  A whole year spent internet searching, venue looking, color picking, and stressing out.  I really can't believe it.  Here is a sneak peek into some of the projects that I have been keeping myself busy with.  Hotel guest bags, our custom monogram (which was made into a custom Gobo for the reception!) water bottles and our unity candle...

Rachel's Invites!!!

So, this invitation has some significance for me.  Rachel was my one of my first official wedding invitations for someone other than family and friends!  She is a fellow Knottie that I had the privilege to get to know through many emails back and forth.  She gave me the chance to use my design skills, and I will be forever grateful that she had faith in me!!

Rachel wanted to be able to incorporate some of the colors of her venue (which happened to be teal) along with her primary wedding color, burgundy.  Instead of fighting the color combination, which I know Rachel was a little leery of to begin with, she trusted me and this is the end result!  We did a silver invite with two backers of teal and charcoal.  The information pieces were done with silver  card stock and all of her pieces were adorned with some piece of her "S" flourish that were created from the swirl in her invite.

Having taken on this project just weeks before my wedding, I am glad I did.  Rachel was a great person to work with, and I wish her luck with her planning!!

Something to be thankful for..

Well, apparently I am on a thank you note kick.  Since I was young, my mom always made sure I sent out a hand written note for all gifts that I received.  I still do that today.  Its a nice way to show you really appreciate the thought that went into the gift.  This canary backer with Raspberry printing and envelope make me smile!

Heart Flourish Invite

This was an idea that one of my newest customers came to me for.  I hand sketched the heart flourish from a rubber stamp she had found. We used in on the panel invite and the envelope.  However, the actual invite never came to fruition.  We decided to veer off-course and go with something even more unique!  You will have to wait for those to debut!

Another Thank You....

I was inspired by the colors that were used for the "Fall in love with the couple" invites, so I used some of the remaining paper and created a thank you card.  It isnt the one that will be used, but I figured I could show you options!

"Fall in Love with the Couple"

Fall was the theme for Amanda and Chris at their bridal shower.  So when the invites were created, it was all things warm and rich.  The bronze backing card paired nicely with the gold invite.  The orange RSVP postcard tied in the colors, and the custom printed envelope and gold leaf stamp on the back of the RSVP made it a complete package!

My unforgettable night...

So, my amazing maid of honor, Kate, arranged my bachelorette party at the end of August.  It was an unforgettable night with my closest friends and family!  There isn't a way to express my gratitude, but here was the small token of appreciation that I sent out....

More Earthy Feel-y extras

I created the monogram to coordinate with the "jane and roberts" invites.  They will use this for stickers, their program and whatever other crazy items we can think of.  As I always say, the mind is a terrible thing to waste.  (Actually, I borrowed that phrase..)

Ever so Earthy....

I love, love, love the color burn of the trees on this invite.  It makes me feel like I am sitting in the park!  This was done for a home wedding.   It is a panel invite and has a deep chocolate edge to it.  The other cards will be held together with a rich chocolate ribbon and rafia accent.  Stay tuned, the pics are coming!
Obviously the names have been changed, as with all of the work that I post.  So don't be surprised if you see a random celebrity on my posts! Once I get the printed version, I will update the blog with the full package!

Ticket Save the date

Here is a fun way to let everyone know your special day. They can be customized to fit any occasion. Here is "Lisa and Jeff's" save the date, but we can do weddings, showers, birthdays, parties etc.

Monogram Mania

I love creating monograms! This one uses the most elegant font and the eggplant against the celery green is just divine!! I can't wait to start the invitations!

Monogram ideas... R/B Wedding

Here are some ideas that I came up with for Chris and Robyn's wedding. (Obviously, these are the ones that didnt make the final contenders.) Robyn wants to add come fall colors and leaves to the design. I cant wait to start modifying them! Once we decide on the winner, ill be sure to send out the update!

Le' Plume-ish extras...

Here are some of the extras..... Candy buffet sign, kissing card etc. Its so hard to choose which element is my favorite. I may end up posting them all!! the background is a silver Stardream cardstock, and the embellishment is the recurrent red plume. Take note of the "K" on the monogram, it has the damask too!

Monogram/Program Design

I have completed the Cover Design for the ceremony program.  Here is Amanda and Christopher's monogram and date, with the damask/plume background.  This motif is all over their stuff!

(My apologies for the picture, my camera is the next thing to be upgraded!)

Success is sweet!

A lot of my design inspiration comes from things around my house/my backyard.  Isn't this the most unusual hibiscus flower?  I have taken up the hobby of gardening, and this is my newest endeavor.  "She" is finicky and if she were a person, I would call her Zsa Zsa Gabor.  (I just imagine her talking in that signature voice, Daaahling!)  Then, I wake up and realize its just a plant.  It's my new obsession, and I cant wait to figure out how to utilize this creative spark!

Reminds me of a trapper keeper?

So, I was inspired by an upcoming graduation that we are attending.  Fiance and I received an invite in the mail that was your standard computer printer format.  I have been thinking about the ways that I would have sent it out, and this is what I decided.... It reminds me of my middle school days when Trapper Keepers were cool, and EVERYTHING was in neon!

The inaugural invite post....

So, this is the invite that started it all.  Here are a few pics of the pocket folder, envelope,  RSVP and a few other little items that make me smile.....

New Creative Endeavor: From DIY to Custom Design!

This is the first post for my new business: A Day to Remember Custom Invitation Design. After a push from my ever-patient fiance, and many of my family (and soon-to-be family) members, I have decided to start my home based invitation design service.

Here is a little background information on me:

My interest in invitation design all started when I became engaged. I met with another amazing invitation designer for her to make my save the date cards. While she did an amazing job, I was mad at myself for not trying to make them first. (You see, I have a Design degree and my Cosmetology license as well. I would consider myself a creative person.) I figured if the woman that I used could do it, then by all means I could too!

Armed with the finest of design software, and my trusty Mac computer, I was determined to create the most personal invitations possible. And this is when the obsession with my personal wedding invites started!  Invitations are not the only work that I do, I also love to do custom designed paper items too!

This blog will serve as a means to showcase my work, as well as the trials and tribulations of starting a home business.

Here's to A Day to Remember,

Amanda
